Studio Diary - Begin the Celebrations of sin

Studio Diary

Day 1:
We arrived to studio Dauntless after a very consuming and hard week at work. Drums are now set up, miked and ready to go. Santeri tried few different microphones for snare drum to archieve the best possible sound. That´s all for now. Tomorrow we start the actual recording and hopefully lay down 4-6 tracks. So far the drums sound very good...

Personally I´m little worried about bass drum patterns as my feet didn´t work that well comparing to last few reherals we had. I´m not a studio lover anyway: panic and distress are way too familiar feelings when the record-button is pressed down.

Tomorrow we will kick ass anyway. I´m at my best in a slight hangover. Therefore i´m doing my best to archieve this nice and familiar state.

Day 2:
Well well... about 9 in the morning I realized that maybe it wasn´t such an good idea to drink those brown weird drinks at four am.

I recorded five songs today. ALMOST six, actually... One song went very fine but for some reason the left bass drum pedal wouldn´t co-operate with me. I recorded that song about three times and every single time the beater fell or flew off from the pedal. fffuuucck..... Those five drumtracks are, hhmm, pretty decent but not quite what i expected. It´s always weird to play with another and unknown drumset. Still, I am almost happy with those tracks. Almost.

1. still untitled "slow" and very heavy track. This went really well.
2. Vade Retro Deus. I am not that impressed about how this went. I might re-record this if we have time for that tomorrow.
3. Lobotomy with a crufisix. This went very well if I remember right. Fast and my personal favourite of the new songs.
4. Monument 666. I´d like to re-record this :D I started to be very tired and fed off when playing this one...
5. Blindfolded went well with first and only take.

Tomorrow I will record four of five more tracks. I am rather distressed because there is one very fast and hard song to do. Argh. And YES, there will be one track with finnish lyrics!

Day 3:

More drums. Yesterday there was VERY cold at the basement where I was playing. Today there was much more pleasent to play and I nailed the four remaining tracks in about 3 hours. That´s it then. Matias will carry on with this studiodiary...

1. "Departure" (working title)
2. Scythe of blasphemy
3. "Blastalku" (working title)
4. Temptations of flesh

Day 4-6:

Matias recorded rythm and lead guitars to every single song. Sami, our new guitarist also helped him. No serious problems except Scythe of blasphemy turned out to be harder than it was supposed to be: Matias did forgot almost completely how the song went. The guitar sound is going to massive, brutal and very nasty.

Day 7:

Mika recorded bass to every song easily and almost effortless. Matias heard some rough mixes and told me that everything will sound VVVEERRRYYY GOOODDD! I´m pretty enxious to hear everything mixed and done. Vocals will be recorded at the weekend.
