Album mixed

So now everything is ready, only mastering left and it's 4.12. We are releasing a netsingle: "Destination" soon after mastering the album, we have made a special version of the song and it's only a netsingle. The album version contains guest vocals by Thomas Vee(Iconofear). Santeri has done great work with this album, so big thanks to him!!! It's been great that we have been doing this album quite a long time so it's so good as it could get, the release date is going to be in end of february, hopefully...

Vocal recordings

Now the vocals are ready, H.Hyytiainen recorded the vocals about in 7h, huh crazy. I have never seen that somene records vocals so fast and accurate, most of the songs took only one take. Also Thomas Vee from Iconofear recorded some crazy clean guest vocals to couple of tracs, hopefully they fit to our concept! Now Santeri is mixing everything, we have heard few previews and they sound fucking good!! So now it's only mixing and then mastering. Santeri is also quite busy with his own recordings but hopefully he gets everything ready quite soon!!

Guitar re-amping

Now the album is basicly ready besides the voclas and some mixing! Few weeks ago we re-amped the clean guitar tracks with my 5150II. We used marshall and mesa cabins to create the right sound. I also used my boss sd-1 to boost up the sound. After that the guitars sounded so fucking heavy and i was satisfied. We also used the classic hm-2 pedal to add littlebit chaos to the sound! To the bass we used tubescreamer to have the right sound. Tomorrow we are starting the vocal sessions, we try to manage in two days. After that we are having one vocal recording day and then our good friend Thomas vee from Iconofear comes to the studio to do some guest vocals!

S.Salmi, our mixer has been busy with his own band Dauntless. That´s why we are are progressing pretty slowly but this is nothing unexpected. We agreed to this schedule.

We have now heard small bits of songs so that we can comment the mixing. Lots of work has been done by us and Santeri to get we are now: guitars and especially bass sound REALLY HEAVY. Drums sound natural and punchy. Everything sounds great - way better than our debut. Raw and heavy but every single instrument perfectly audible.

Next: Salmi will add the spices (lead guitars, samples and such) to the mix. Vocals will be recorded in two weeks. Then the final mix and mastering and it´s all done.

Yarrr!

Bass, additional guitars and fucked up sounds

Last week:

Bass was re-recorded during saturday with better equipment. Friday we went though all songs with Helle and added some lead guitars and checked that everything was fine. I spent few hours during weekend creating weird ambient soundscapes for three songs. I don´t have any idea how audible those parts will be in a final mix, but it was very "teaching" experience anyway. Those parts will be buried withing songs to boost the atmosphere of those songs. No Synth/Orchestral/electronic shit, only weird noises and, well, sounds of torture (Weeping Flesh).

We learned one thing: good bass sounds better than a shitty bass and it DOES make a difference even in metal.

Everything should be ready now except vocals witch will be recorded in near future. Santeri can start mixing now.

Good thing about recording most instruments yourself is that there is no stress from the schedules. If you don´t feel like doing anything in three days, fine. We are not in a hurry.

Bass recordings

Today we recorded the bass tracks again, we got a really nice bass with active mics and the bass sound is a fucking killer!! hehe! T.Landen recorded all the bass tracs in 3 hours, last weekend was a good practise hehe! And yesterday L.Laaksonen came here and recorded few leads to spice up few songs, and today he's making few samples to the songs, creepy shit!! So next is the guitar sound tuning, maybe next weekend...But Santeri is mixing the album so everything is getting forward..And next sunday we have promo photo shoots...
